Why I'm Starting a Photography Blog (And Why You Should Too!)
Starting a blog has been on my mind since I first laid the groundwork for my photography business. As a Vancouver Island-based photographer, I’ve always believed that storytelling is more than just capturing beautiful images—it’s about preserving emotions, moments, and the journey behind them. That’s why I’m finally diving into the world of blogging!
For a while now, I’ve been putting it off. What would I write about? Would people even read it? But the more I’ve thought about it, the more I’ve realized how valuable a blog can be—not just for sharing my work, but for connecting with clients and vendors, offering helpful tips, and giving a behind-the-scenes look at my photography adventures, both locally and internationally.
From breathtaking elopements in Tofino to golden-hour engagement sessions in Victoria, I want this blog to be a space where I share stories, photography tips, and insights into what makes this island such an incredible backdrop for love and life.
I’ve also had the privilege of working with so many fantastic vendors over the years, and this blog is the perfect platform to share my experiences and (hopefully!) provide clients with recommendations for some of the most important parts of their wedding day.
If you’re a photographer (or any creative, really) and have been thinking about starting a blog, I encourage you to go for it! I know this is just my first blog post, so maybe six months from now, I’ll have a different outlook—but as I see it, not only does blogging help build a deeper connection with your audience, but it also allows you to document your journey in a meaningful way.
I can’t wait to share more—stay tuned for upcoming posts featuring my favorite Vancouver Island locations and vendors, wedding planning tips, behind-the-scenes looks, and more!
